Editorial Standards
These are the rules our content has to pass before it publishes. They are deliberately restrictive.
What we publish
Every guide exists to answer a real homeowner question and to resolve a specific reason people get stuck — cost, fit, installation, compatibility, sizing, running cost or the value of the step up.
We do not create a page merely because people search for a question. If it can be answered inside a stronger guide without weakening it, it stays inside that guide.
What we will not do
We do not invent product testing, prices, specifications, warranties, commission rates or merchant claims. We do not fabricate reviews. We do not use fake urgency.
We do not make universal 'best' recommendations without context, and we do not prioritise a product because it pays more.
Verification
Prices, dimensions, electrical requirements, warranties, availability and manufacturer specifications change. Every factual claim of that type is recorded with its source, the claim it supports and the date it was verified.
If a figure is not adequately supported, we do not publish it. We would rather explain what drives a number than print one we cannot stand behind.
Corrections
If something here is wrong, we want to know. Corrections are made on the page, and material corrections update the fact-check date.
